I was born in Oak Park, IL in 1955 and was living in Park Forest, IL when the fire occurred. I remember my father saying he could see the smoke from his office on Michigan Ave. that afternoon. I do not remember the fire, but I do remember my mother being very concerned about my school's construction when I started kindergarten two years later. I didn' understand why until much later, after I read the book "To Sleep With The Angels". I have a younger sister and two younger brothers. One of my brother's is a district Fire Chief in St. Paul, MN. I have three grown children living in Minnesota. My father passed away in 2001 and my mother is well and living in a suburb of Minneapolis. I am now living in Alabama.
