My name is Mike Bergstrom.
My only connection to the fire that burned your school was the story my mother told me about it - she witnessed it shortly afterward. She had told me this story about a parochial school that had burned and how all these children had lost thier lives. I didnt' make the connection to the story until I watched a news piece on Chicago Tonight, on PBS, that mentioned the anniversary of this terrible fire.
Once I got to know a bit more and about how horribly you were all treated by the church, the city, and the many insensitive people that invade your privacy - I decided to contribute to your cause. I was going to do some volunteer work for Mrs Benzik (Charlene), in the form of internet sleuthing to find some of the fire survivors that she wanted to re-connect with. But she fell ill, and ultimatly died, before I could get the info from her. I only swapped emails with her - but she seemed really nice. My sympathies to you all for her loss.
