Was in 2nd grade and escaped unharmed physically,but
was affected by extreme fear of fire for many years.
Had been hit by a car 10/12/1958 resulting in a fractured
skull. Was looking at the clock when alarm sounded,since
I was to leave 15 min earlier than usual to avoid the
rush home on doctors orders. Finished the school year
at Cameron and we moved that summer. Have never considered
myself a true "survivor" due to lack of permanent physical
injury. Was invited into a nearby home which resulted
in extreme anguish to my mother who entered the school
searching for me. She was able to catch some the children
who jumped with others bouncing off those who were caught.
