I was a 10 year old school girl at the time of the fire and living in downstate Illinois. I was profoundly affected by media coverage of the fire and have never forgotten the moment I heard the news. My cousin attended parochial school in the Chicago area, making it even more real to me. Through the years I've often thought of the event. A year ago I thought to search the Internet and found this site. I've never registered because it humbles me to read of the pain of the survivors and seems like a presumption to try to be a part of this. However, I want to be able to contact Joyce about her book and vow to be respectful of you brave, troubled, special people.
