I am a 56 year old retired detective from NYPD. I was born 4 months after the horrific fire. Growing up I remember my mother telling me about a fire in Chicago that 92 innocent children and three nuns lost their life. I just purchased three books on the subject and I am half way through "The Immaculate Deception" and I am angry and sickened at the lack of fire protection inside that building. It is of small consolation that these Innocent Human Beings did not die in vein. Out of the ashes building and fire codes were totally revamped across the nation. Also, being a volunteer firefighter, I can feel the loss and pain felt by the firefighters at the scene that everything in their power to rescue those people and I salute them. May those that perished, may they and their families find peace.
