About me: |
attended. HOC a few miles from OLA. many of the survivors attended school with me after the tragedy. I was 6 years old at time of the fire. My dad worked for Illinois Bell at the time of fire and was up high on a pole when the first alarms rang out. He phoned my mother first. She was a home with five of us children on west Cortez street. He ran over to Hamlin avenue and assisted police and Firemen in any way he could. Then traveled to St Anne's hospital to hook up emergency phone systems for media and reporters. I never saw my dad for 4 days. We lived behind St Anne's. I remember my mother and dad crying for days after this tragedy. I have never forgot this day.
