About me: About a year ago, I released AVERS AND IOWA which although involving some fictional characters who are composites, involved comprehensive research and background on the fire and those parties involved. Many of the parties utilized such as the school janitor, the teaching staff, the political powers of the day and the heads of the Archdioceses of Chicago appear in the book. While pursuing a degree in Disaster Mgt at the University of Chicago, I was granted access to extensive files and/or testimony given at the subsequent inquest. At over 600 pages, it is is about as definitive and detailed of an examination of this tragic event as can be put together into one work. As a retired military doctor and frequent visitor to Chicago as a child, I have always had an interest in this and similar tragedies from the stand point of prevention and treatment. This led to a historical interest and a sense of duty to tell the entire story free of sentiment and/or rancor. I hope your members will agree with me.
