I was in first grade at St. Matthias school on the north side, and remember watching the news coverage, even as 5 years old. I have met many people who went to OLA at that time, especially when I went to Loyola. I am a nurse, and haved worked for the Chicago Dept. of Health for 25 years. My first assignment as a Public Health nurse was the area around OLA parish. Even back in 1978, as I traveled many of the side streets off Augusta Blvd., I could sense an eerie feeling.. I always said a prayer when I passed the school an the Church.After watching the Channel 11 documentary, I find myself wondering about those who survived, and the families of the lost children. I watched this show, wondering how Victor's Mom could so vallantly descibe the suffering and death of her son. Please tell her I will never forget her accounts, and those of the others.
