OLA Survivor or Alumnus? No
Born Before 12/1/58? No
About me: DOB 9-24-61, attended S.S. Peter & Paul at 123rd & Emerald late 60's to April '75, moved from West Pullman when neiborhood "changed". My father's best friend was the brother of Father Joe McDonnell(always thought it was McDonald, mom corrected me recently), an associate pastor? at OLA in 1958 and recently ordained. My mother said that Father Joe rarely talked about the fire except that for a couple of years after most of his time was spent consoling grieving parents. In 1999 Father Joe said the eulogy at my father's funeral mass and summed up my father's life wonderfully. It was very conforting to my mother and brothers and sisters. I didn't know of Father Joe's connection to OLA until speaking with my mother after the Channel 11 program.I saw Father Joe as a very humble and thougtful man and now wonder how much his experience after the fire affected him. Note: my father passed away on December 1,1999 and will always be missed.
