About me: I first heard of the OLA fire during a History Channel show about disasters. It affected me deeply and I read the Cowan/Kuenster book as well as the McBride book. The thoughts and feelings your tragedy has provoked in me are indescribable. I've been coming to this site for weeks and cannot find words to say. I am in awe of this technology that has finally given you all a way to connect and heal together. I was born in Oct 1960 in Newark New Jersey and went to a Catholic school early on that was much like the New OLA, and later on public schools of similar construction. I always wondered why they were made of concrete and granite, and why the stairway doors said "Fire Door--Keep Closed". I know now. Your tragedy and the 9-11 horror have made me cognizant of emergency escape routes more than I ever was before. My name is Mary Miller and I live in St. Louis. Just so you know, I am not a coward and am not afraid to use my real name. It's just that my real name is, well, kinda boring. I strive to make my public postings as respectful as possible. If any of you have an issue with things I have said, please feel free to e mail me directly.
