I graduated from OLA in 1954, well before the fire, however, my family still lived in the parish in December, 1958. I was a student at St. Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana. I will never forget coming down to work in the mail room and seeing the headlines of the Chicago papers! Lou Hart, Ola, was working with me that day. We lived on Hamlin Avenue and there were many families effected by the fire. There were no Christmas trees or celebrations that year just a heavy feeling of sadness.
