About me: In 1958 I was 14 and I attended school in an almost new brick, steel, and glass school building in the surburbs of St. Louis. Most of the children in my neighborhood attended a two story brick Catholic grade school nearby. I drive by it every day The news at the time was horrific, but from the news at the time only the story and the images in Life Magazine are inked indelibly into my memory. The victims could have been any of the children I knew. In time everything became a blur, but the images in Life and something I heard about the arsonist wile attending Northwestern University in the Chicago area were never really forgotten. This December, I happened to remember the fire, and I mentioned it to a friend who, as it turned out, had seen the smoke from his home in South Chicago when it happened. We found this website. I am sure that no one who knew them will ever forget those who joined the angels too soon in 1958 and 1959. It is just as important that no one ever put out of mind their families and those who survived.
