About me: It's hard to say why a tragedy like this continues to touch people almost fifty years after the fact. Is it just the idea that these were innocent children and teachers who were doing what they did every day, unaware that it would be their last day -- and for the survivors, their last day of innocence? Is it that there seems to be so much about the tragedy that was preventable, so many "if onlys"? Is is that there are real heros and heroines, as well as real villains, in the story? Or is it that this happened in a time that seems lost to us forever, for better or worse? Anyway, the book "To Sleep With the Angels" was so compelling in that it reached across the decades to tell a story that people still care to hear. The "angels" live on as their story is shared.
