| About me: | My great-grandfather, James Bailey, was a CFD deputy marshal in 1958 and responded to the fire. He never spoke of what he saw that day, but all of us who grew up after the fire learned about it as soon as we were old enough. The parochial school I attended (built not long after the fire) had cinderblock walls and tile floors. No building is truly fireproof, but the designers of my school clearly took the lessons of OLA in mind. |
